haha good question and I got a good answer.

I’m 22 and a sr. computer science student at a pretty big college aka 20,000 + students. The girl to guy ratio on our campus in general is about 2.7:1 girls to guys. However in CS classes, I have only ever seen 3 girls( none of which were not hott), in what you could say is “my grade” which is i’m guessing 60ish kids a year probably get CS degrees. So as a rough estimate i’d say somewhere in the neighbor hood of 20:1??? meaning most class sizes are about 20 kids, but sadly you will have some classes with no girls….and yes it sucks.

However, you’ll get to take other classes which will have normal girl to guy ratios….and some classes with smaller girl to guy ratios like calculus…which i’d say its prolly 3 guys for every girl. Most of the girls in classes like calc arent hot, but there is the occasional hottie when u do see a decent one it makes her even hotter the fact that she can do stuff like calc. lol

if ur worried about being around dudes all day, space out ur general classes because there will be like a 1:1 ratio of girls to guys in them, and most of them will be younger meaning space your general electives out so you at least have one class a semester with a normal ratio.

The school i go to is fairly “easy” (cs is still hard, but i’m sure compared to other CS schools it’s a joke) but i’m guessing that the harder of a school you go to, the less likely you are to have a high girl to guy ratio

    to be honest :

most of the kids in CS are freaks ( kids sit in my classes and play world of war craft and do all that gay nerdy stuff). most of them don’t drink and aren’t about girls most fat or foreign. (yes the stereotype is mostly true) its not hard to pick out who the normal kids are and become friends with them. yes its hard but it makes great money. (i’d say for every 6 kids that come into college doing CS only one acutally graduates with the degree)….If you think your too cool for CS dont let that stop you. I consider myself “to cool” to be doing this stuff, and no way in hell am i the smartest at it, but finding someone who has a CS degree with people skills is very rare, and employers know this…..so tuff it out. Once ur my age seeing salaries around 15,000 dollars / year higher than my friends who did b/s degrees like business its all worth it. and all the “cool kids” aren’t going to seem so attractive to women when they are making 35k a year and your making 52k…..sad but true

if your worried about ppl thinking ur weird for doing CS when every anyone ask you what ur major is tell them software engineering, people don’t really understand what it is and it sounds like ur still smart but not some freak lol
