There are different types of projects that are being funded with the technology school grants. In relation to this, the organizations that offer technology school grants are also of various types.

Who offer technology school grants

The following Government bodies offer technology school grants –

1. The State Government

2. The Federal Government

3. The County

4. The City Governments

In addition to the Government, certain corporate and private organizations also provide technology school grants. Over the past years, many technological organizations and companies have been offering technology school grants.

Foundations offering technology school grants

The leading technology school grants offered are by those of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, followed by Intel Foundation, SBC Foundation, The Merck Company Foundation, The Alfred.P.Sloan Foundation, The W. M. Keck Foundation to mention a few.

If you are wondering where the school grant funds are coming from, then in most cases, the money is set aside from corporate profits to support and impart technology. The highest percentage of school grants are provided to the health care sectors, schools, nonprofit organizations, tribal communities, local government agencies, colleges and educational institutions. Unless profit associations and organizations are mostly not awarded any school grants unless they are creating jobs or conducting research.

Instructional Technology Programs

Instructional Technology Programs offer technology school grants for teachers and can award a variety of things from computers to various aspects of curriculum development. The department of education, of the United States provides many school grants for the instructional technology in K-12 classrooms. For example, the Global School Net Foundation serves to link students from various parts of the world. Some companies like AT & T and International Business Machines, offer school grants for technology related education too. Such companies offer school grants with the aim to promote and incorporate technology in the classroom.

The department of education, of the United States also provides school grants for supporting assisted technology for students with disabilities. The Center on Accessible and Supported Electronic Text has been developed to help differently-abled children and children with special abilities, in the field of mathematics.

A few instructional tech school grant programs offer professional development support to teachers, thus aiding them in learning how to use a new technology. The Teacher Quality Partnerships Program and The International Society for Technology in Education are a few of such organizations that conduct workshops and other related activities and initiatives to help educators and teachers learn and use new technology.

Some associations also offer school grants for researches and researchers. The Institute for Education Sciences offers research grants in the teaching fields.

Some of the information that you need to ask the school that you are planning to attend include:

* Details on work study programs

* Information on support from local clubs, religious or other groups and alumnus.

* Availability of scholarships sponsored by the corporate organizations.

* Details about direct financial assistance from your college.

* Information on State and federal subsidized school grants.
