REXBURG – Out of nearly 1500 students, there’s a 3:4 male to female ratio. About half the students are already married, and just a handful less have served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 70 couples even graduated together… this particular couple went so far as to dress up their baby with a cap and gown. While they look forward to their child’s future, others enjoy the moment with a kiss. “It’s a good feeling to be done, I’ve been in school a long time, so eventually I finished!” exclaimed Ben Kingsberry, who got a degree in the Public Health sector. “I am so excited. It’s a great sense of accomplishment. its a challenge, but its also a beginning of new things,” said May Viveros, who obtained a BA in Communications. “I don’t think it will hit me until I have to hit the job hunt, no homework tomorrow so its kind of a relief,” said Randy Peterson, who got a similar degree, but a BS in Broadcasting. And parents can’t help but take pictures, give flowers, and smile. “He’s our first one to graduate, we are just thrilled… Thrilled,” laughed in joy Ardis Roberts, the mother of graduating Aaron Roberts. And her son, almost decided not to go to commencement, “Yeah I am actually glad I came today, it was actually a good experience. It wasn’t as long as I would have thought, but good speakers and good subjects,” said Aaron Roberts, who got a computer science degree. The main speaker was Neil Anderson the former Pocatello resident who has recently …

The popularity of the internet and its applications in online learning has resulted in many students turning to the internet for their tertiary education. The online educational environment allows students to study at their own time and convenience thus allowing them to perform other daily activities. Some courses are also cheaper online than in traditional educational institutions. Due to this high demand for online education, online education now not only features those universities that specialize in this form of education but also includes many traditional universities who are now resorting to online training for their students. This has made the business of online education fiercely competitive resulting in some being left behind. Some of the top online degree programs include:

Business

The economic climate have spurned a high interest in business related subjects as many students either want to have an understanding of the financial world to either capitalize on its offerings or prevent themselves from falling into the abyss of financial failure. This is a highly competitive field of study that requires constant upgrade to keep in tune with it trends and bends. This degree is offered at all levels of education such as the Associate, Bachelor, Master and PhD levels.

Criminal Justice

Graduates of an Online Criminal Justice Degree program have access to high paying jobs and a well-respected profession. This lures many students to pursue online degrees in criminal justice. In addition, the satisfaction of performing a service to the community by the pursuit of justice adds another dimension to the profession. Some of the areas included in this profession are law enforcement, security services and forensic science.

Art and Design

Despite the harsh economic climate, individuals still view public spaces, good architecture, graphic designs and animations as means of releasing the tension and stresses of everyday life. As a result, there is a steady demand for qualified artists, draftsmen and graphic designers who can create these products for public consumption. These individuals command credible salaries that attract many students to pursue online courses in this field.

Computer Science

The field of computer science has become so wide and diverse as we now include computers in every aspect of our lives. As a result, many students flock to online computer science degree programs to exploit the many job opportunities that the profession offers. Computer science offers job opportunities in industries such a manufacturing, tourism, finance, health, web development and communications.

Education

One positive spin off from the economic meltdown is the vast amounts of individuals who are upgrading their education and a form of retooling. This has created many job opportunities for online teachers who are required to teach this army of online students. As a result, many individuals, including working professionals pursue online teaching courses so that they can be qualified to teach in online institutions.

Engineering

Online engineering degree programs are a mainstay of online universities. No matter what type of hype is created about other online degree programs, the online degree in engineering remains a favorite. Surveys show that most of the demand however has shifted from bachelors programs to engineering programs at the postgraduate level as many working professionals seek to upgrade their qualification without interrupting their regular schedule.

Candidate: Michael (blooddaemon) Blurb: Hello all, my name is Michael Lee and I’m running for the webmaster position. Some of you might know me as blooddaemon on the forums, and yes, I do live on the forum. Although for those who don’t know me, I’m a second year computer science student, going to my third year. I have over four years of computer programming experience, and very learned basic web design way before then. I have confidence in my abilities of keeping up to date with the current events and activities in UTAMA. If I ever lack the skills, I can make up for it by learning quickly. An example of this is this semester. Since I’m taking four computer science courses out of the five classes I have, I have to learn five programming languages all at once. Yes, I’m serious about that number. I believe that one critical part, out of the many, is to keep a open and clear line of communicate between the executives and its members. What’s a better way than using the internet? It’s fast, but it is only as reliable as the person updating it and I am that person. I keep myself well informed and I’ll make sure you will be well informed. Vote for me, Michael, for webmaster. You know you want to.

So its been a long 2 moths since this channel had any major update and in that time alot of things have happened. Ive moved out of my family home and moved into a halls/dorm room here on campus Ive started university and have started a 3 year long computer science degree. Ive tackled through the pain of homesickness and living on my on. ive managed to stay somewhat health whiles eating store brand food. And ive made a hell lot of new friends. Time have been stressful with class lectures and mid term test and this has casued me to put many things on hold. From my blog site to pokémon in general. But since ive now fully settled into university, ive decided to pick up from where i left of. So for December 2009, i will be restarting both my giveaway and wifi battles. The first giveaway will be the TRU Arceus that came out during this month in the USA. A good friend is supplying me with them in return for some previous events i have. I ill be putting the giveaway videos and more details in the next few weeks once i have some time to head home and use my DVC to do a bit of vidoe campture. I will also be accepting challanged for WIFI battles under my rules. So start sending messages so i can arrange times to battle. I will say that since i now dont have a wifi connection and am using a usb to connect to the wifi, my connection may not be sound, lag from time to time or not work at all. So please be pacient.
