For video game programming: Does a Computer Science Degree cover it, or is a specialized degree needed?

I’m looking to head into the field, and I’ve noticed the over-publicized specialty degrees aren’t exactly that great. However, they are all related to the Computer Science degree. Should this degree land me the appropriate job, or is a specialized degree necessary?

You need the degree, you need to have played almost every video game since Donkey Kong, you have to know at least 2 high level programming languages and you have to have written some killer games just for the fun of it. And you have to be able to work 90 hours a week for $40,000 a year.

You don’t need any degree. Just think of BIll Gates; he dropped out. You just need a creative mind and a good idea of programming..
